5 Indian universities among world's top 400 (Proud to be an Indian)

5 Indian universities among world's top 40
New Delhi tries to fast-track legislation to allow foreign colleges to open their own campuses in India, here's one study to be proud of.

Five Indian varsities have made it to the top spots in the latest Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2013-14.

India’s position in the global ranking has improved with two new entries this year when compared to three universities in the previous year, according to a PTI report.
In a surprising revelation, Panjab University is ranked in the 226-250 band surpassing Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, Kanpur, Kharagpur and Roorkee which were ranked in the 351-400 band.
This year, IIT Kharagpur slipped from 226-250 into the 351-400 group, and IIT Roorkee retained its position in the 351-400 band.

“These results should be encouraging for India: while no Indian institution makes the top 200...India now has five representatives in the top 400 — a sign of growing commitment to the global rankings,” said Phil Baty, editor of the Rankings.
